New class types!

New class types!

If you’ve practiced at Studio Sattva for a while, you know we aren’t a “bubblebath” yoga studio. We’ve always believed in growth over comfort and the power of earned calm.

Until now, our class names, like “Slow Flow” or “Gentle”, haven’t quite captured the actual work we do on the mat. We’ve realized those labels don’t do justice to the resilience you build here. So, we’re updating our schedule to better reflect our approach to the practice.

We’ve also put our teaching philosophy into words. We believe in growth over comfort. We earn our calm. We focus on the practice, not the results that follow. We think of yoga as a training ground, not an escape. Read the full teaching philosophy here.

Meet the new class lineup

Yoga Flow

This class is unchanged. Enjoy yoga flows that change class after class. Breath meets movement. Build heat, find rhythm, stay present.

Power (new class!)

We’re adding a dedicated class to focus on the more challenging poses, holds, and balances at a fast pace. It’s a real “try, fall, and try again” practice where you can enjoy a challenge. Peak poses, fun transitions, balances.

Slow & Strong (new class!)

Replaces the preivous “Slow Flow” classes. It’s a slow paced flow class with a focus on depth, alignment, and strong holds and balance. Includes both floor and standing sequences at a slow intentional pace. All fitness levels and yoga experiences are welcome. Options are given to add and remove challenge as needed, so you can find and work at your own edge.

Yin

Unchanged. Long, 2 to 6 minutes, holds. Passive deepening into shapes. Stretch the fascia, not the muscles. A meditative practice and a metal attention workout to stay with the depth and the sensations.

Flow & Yin

Renamed from Vin to Yin but unchnaged. Start with a strong flow to really warm up the body, then settle into deep Yin stretches.

Beginner?

If you’re a complete beginner (very first class or first few classes) we recommend that you join any Slow & Strong, Yin, Flow, or Flow&Yin. Keep Power for after you’ve tried a few classes.

The best way to learn is to mix & match different classes. You won’t only learn about the basics as you practice but you’ll also discover the styles you like most.

Our intro offer of 3 classes for £30 is a great way to explore the studio and find what classes you like most! Just pick the first class you’d like to join from the timetable and select the “Intro Offer” option.
